Santee Concrete Permit Guide
Santee's rules for concrete work focus on the street and on walls. Here is what the city's own pages say.
Checklist
- Encroachment Permit for any right of way work
- Class A license for the contractor in the right of way
- Wall permit at three feet, or within five feet of the line
- Santee is inland, not in the coastal zone
Encroachment Permits
Santee requires an Encroachment Permit from Engineering for any work in the city right of way, including the replacement, repair or install of a new driveway. The contractor working in the public right of way must hold a California General Engineering Contractor (Class A) license and meet the city's insurance rules.
Permits are filed on Santee's online permitting and licensing portal. Allow 10 to 15 working days. Santee Engineering is at 619-258-4100 ext. 167.
Where the Right of Way Starts
A Santee guide says the street right of way is typically ten feet from the face of the curb. If you need the exact line, ask a land surveyor or the city.
Retaining Walls
A retaining wall permit is required if the wall is three feet or taller from the top of the footing, or if it is within five feet of the property line. The Building Division must check any wall that supports a surcharge. A three foot wall within three feet of a driveway counts.

Patios and Slabs on Your Lot
We did not find a Santee page that says when a slab on private land needs a permit. Ask the city before work starts.
Digging
State law says the person digging must notify the regional notice center at least two working days, and not more than 14 calendar days, before the dig. The notice day does not count. Call 811.
